Pien Tze Huang is a traditional Chinese medicine formulated by a court doctor of the Ming Dynasty emperor Ming Shizong, around 1555 A.D. It has been used to treat liver diseases, cancer diseases and adverse inflammation. Its main ingredients are musk, calculus bovis (gallstone of the ox), snake's gall, and Tienchi (also known as Sanqi, the root of Panax notoginseng).
Modern investigations reported that it may have a protective effect against vascular diseases. It also may suppress growth of some types of cancer, such as colorectal cancer.
Main Ingredient:
Bezoar 牛黄, muskiness 麝香, Panaxnotoginseng 三七 , snake gall 蛇胆.
Function :
Relieving internal heat and deleting toxin, cooling blood and reducing stasis, relieving swelling and stopping pain. Used for treating acute, chronic or viral hepatitis resulting from internal heat or blood stasis, ulcer and pyogenic infections, unknown galls, injuries from falls, fractures, contusions and strains as well as all kinds of inflammations.
Usage:
adult have 0.6 mg, 2-3 times a day, 0-8 year children have 0.15-0.3mg, 2-3 times a day; External using: grind and stir it with vinegar or a little cold water then put it on the sore(or put it around ulcer).Keep it humid.

[性 状] 本品为类扁椭圆形块状，块上有一椭圆环。表面棕黄色或灰褐色，有密细纹，可见霉斑。质坚硬，难折断。折断面微粗糙，呈棕褐色，色泽均匀，偶见少量菌丝体。粉末呈棕黄色或淡棕黄色，气微香，味苦、微甘。
[功能主治] 清热解毒，凉血化瘀，消肿止痛。用于热毒血瘀所致急慢性病毒性肝炎，痈疽疔疮，无名肿毒，跌打损伤及各种炎症。
[规 格] 每粒重3克。
[用法用量] 口服。一次0.6克, 八岁以下儿童一次0.15-0.3克，一日2-3次；外用研末用冷开水或食醋少许调匀涂在患处（溃疡者可在患处周围涂敷之）。一日数次，常保持湿润，或遵医嘱。
[不良反应] 尚不明确。
